Caerdydd

Love, money, secrets, a birth and bereavement – life is complicated for the residents of Caerdydd as the city drama series returns to S4C on Sunday, 14 June.

Viewers were left on tenterhooks at the end of the last series when an unstable Peter Marshall (Ryland Teifi) tried to take his own life. But was he successful in his attempt?

As the friends come to terms with what has happened to Peter, things are finally looking up for Lea Kennedy (Alys Thomas).

"Things haven't been easy for Lea since she moved to Cardiff. She was an up-and-coming Assembly Member but was controversially sacked after being caught on camera taking cocaine on a night out. Nine months have passed and Lea's living happily with her boyfriend Stephen (Dewi Wyn Williams) and both are eagerly anticipating the birth of their child," explains Alys, the 31 year-old actress who plays Lea.

"Lea hadn't planned this pregnancy but now that she has no job and her best friend, Elen, has moved to London, she can put all her energy into being a good mother," adds Alys. "She sees this as her second chance after everything that's happened and she thinks that a baby will bring her and Stephen closer together. This is the happiest I've ever seen Lea!"

Like Lea, Alys lives in the Welsh capital. But whereas Lea has had a bumpy ride since moving to Cardiff, Alys loves living there.

"I'm originally from Llangollen but I really like Cardiff. I came here to college and I haven't left since. I've been here for twelve years now – it's such an easy place to settle and I consider it home now," she adds.

But will Lea, Stephen and the baby live happily ever after as the fourth series continues? With so many skeletons in his cupboard, Stephen will be treading carefully to ensure the doors remain firmly closed.

A Fiction Factory production for S4C

Problemau carwriaethol, trafferthion ariannol, cyfrinachau, genedigaeth a galar – dim ond rhai o'r elfennau sy'n cymhlethu bywydau trigolion Caerdydd wrth i'r gyfres ddrama ddychwelyd i S4C nos Sul, 14 Mehefin.

Gorffennodd y gyfres ddiwethaf gyda Peter Marshall (Ryland Teifi) yn dioddef o broblemau meddyliol ac yn ceisio lladd ei hun. Ond a oedd e'n llwyddiannus?

Tra bod y ffrindiau'n ceisio dod i delerau â'r hyn a ddigwyddodd i Peter, mae pethau'n argoeli'n well i Lea Kennedy (Alys Thomas).

"Dydy pethau ddim wedi bod yn rhwydd i Lea ers iddi symud i Gaerdydd. Roedd hi'n aelod newydd o'r Cynulliad ond ar ôl iddi gael ei dal ar gamera yn cymryd cyffuriau, aeth pethau o chwith. Ond bellach mae hi'n byw'n hapus gyda Stephen (Dewi Wyn Williams) ac yn disgwyl ei fabi," esbonia Alys Thomas, yr actores 31 oed sy'n chwarae Lea.

"Doedd Lea ddim wedi cynllunio cael babi ond gyda'i ffrind gorau, Elen, wedi symud i Lundain a hithau'n colli ei swydd, mae hi'n rhoi ei holl egni i fod yn fam dda," ychwanega Alys. "Mae'n ystyried hyn yn ail gyfle ar ôl pob dim sydd wedi digwydd iddi ac mae'r babi yn tynnu Lea a Stephen yn agosach at ei gilydd. Rwy'n credu mai dyma'r hapusa' dwi 'di gweld Lea erioed."

Fel Lea, mae Alys yn byw yng Nghaerdydd, ond tra bo Lea wedi dioddef troeon trwstan ar ôl symud i fyw i'r brifddinas, mae Alys yn mwynhau ei bywyd yno.

"Dwi'n dod o Langollen yn wreiddiol, ond dwi wrth fy modd yn byw yng Nghaerdydd. Fues i yn y coleg yma a dwi heb adael ers hynny. Dwi wedi bod yma 12 mlynedd erbyn hyn. Mae'n lle hawdd iawn i setlo ynddo, ac erbyn hyn, dyma fy nghartref i,” ychwanega.

A fydd Lea, Stephen a'r babi yn parhau â'u bywyd teuluol dedwydd wrth i gyfres Caerdydd barhau? Gyda llu o gyfrinachau yn llechu dan yr wyneb, mae Stephen yn troedio llwybr llithrig iawn.
