David O'Doherty - the Ryanair James Bond, the 1990 East Leinster Under 14 triple jump bronze medallist, not to mention 2008 If.comedy Award Winner - returns to The Glee Club on his second ever stand-up comedy tour. David brings his brand new show ‘David O’Doh-party’ direct from another acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe run.
There will be standing up, there will be sitting down, there will be a song where he tries to seduce the entire audience.
The songs will most likely be played on small pianos from the mid-eighties, which he chooses for their versatility and range, and also the fact that they fit into a sports bag so you don’t have to pay excess on flights.
Dublin’s David O’Doherty did his first gig in 1998, won the Channel 4 So You Think You’re Funny competition for newcomers at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1999 and has returned to Edinburgh every year since - receiving a Perrier Newcomer nomination in 2000, an If.comedy nomination in 2006 and winning the main If.comedy Award for best show in 2008. He can also tick appearing on ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ (BBC2) off his list.
He has written a children’s book and two plays, one for grown ups and one for adults. The play for adults was called Saddled and is the only piece of theatre ever to feature a live repair of audience member’s bicycles. Fact.
David has recently written a book of made-up panda facts called 100 Facts About Pandas with his friends Mike Ahern and Claudia O’Doherty, which will be published by Random House in October 09. He appears in the forthcoming feature film A Film With Me in It with his brother Mark and Dylan Moran
