"Sublimely brilliant, stunning....He is a comic right on the verge of greatness" - Time Out

"...amusing anecdotes and self-analysis that confirms Richardson as one of our most individual and interesting stand-ups"- The Times

Jon Richardson is one of the sharpest, brightest and most in-demand young comedians on the UK comedy scene today. Jon returns to the Glee Club Cardiff for an eagerly anticipated solo show this May.

Having had his 2007 show 'Spatula Pad' nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer, Jon followed this up last summer with a nomination for the prestigious full Edinburgh Comedy Award (formerly The Perrier Award) for 'This Guy at Night'. Previous winners and nominees of the award read like a 'who's who' of comedy including Lee Evans, Dylan Moran, Al Murray, Rich Hall and Flight Of The Conchords amongst others. Following the nomination, Jon’s 2009 UK tour then went on to sell out completely to critical acclaim.

Having spent the last two years defending the option to face the world alone 'This Guy At Night' sees Jon exploring the notion that the human race may be weaker and less able to deal with problems than it has at any point in its history. Using the show to get life’s idiosyncrasies off his chest in his grumpy, yet uniquely charming, northern style, 'This Guy at Night' is a brilliantly funny insight into the trials and tribulations of modern life peppered with perfectly observed moments.

A regular at the top of the stand-up circuit, Jon’s first gig was in 2003 where he won his heat of the BBC New Comedy Talent Search. After completing a 60 date UK with Alan Carr in 2006, Jon won ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ at the 2007 Chortle Awards. The ‘Best Newcomer’ nomination for his show 'Spatula Pad' at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival was followed in 2008 with a successful Edinburgh run of his second solo show, 'Dogmatic'.

Away from live stand-up Jon is also massively in demand in television and radio. Having left his job as host on the much loved BBC6 Music Sunday mid-morning show in March after three years, Jon can currently be seen performing to sell out audiences at the 2010 Melbourne Comedy Festival. Upon his return Jon will appear on 'Have I Got News for You' (Wed 5th May, BBC ONE) for a second time on the eve of the general election with guest host Jo Brand plus Armando Iannucci.

Other recent TV credits include 'The Bubble' (BBC2), 'Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow' (BBC1), 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' (BBC2), 'Grumpy Young Men' (Comedy Central) and 'Walk on the Wild Side' (BBC1). As well as recording a pilot for his own BBC Radio 4 show 'Debatable', Jon has made appearances on numerous radio shows including '...And the Winner' is (BBC Radio 2, hosted by Matt Lucas), 'Act Your Age' (BBC Radio 4) and is also a regular contributor on Five Live’s 'Fighting Talk'.

Jon’s talent also extends to that of writer. He is a frequent contributor to national press and recently wrote a cover article for the Guardian’s Weekend Magazine for their Valentine’s issue.
