Huw Stephens, BBC Radio 1 DJ launches his latest venture, Cardiff’s new Sŵn Festival which takes place in ten venues across Cardiff, and features bands from around the world alongside the hottest local acts, DJs, film and art.
On arrival at a venue, priority will be given to people with wristbands. Once a venue is full, a one-in-one-out policy will operate..
If you don't buy a wristband, you will also be able to pay on the door for all shows. However, priority will lie with wristband wearers, and you will only be able to pay for entry if the venue is not full and if there are no wristband wearers arriving to go in. It's up to you if you want to take that risk, but if you're going to make full use of the festival it will be cheaper, easier and you'll stand a much better chance of seeing everything you want by buying a wristband.
A wristband will also give you free rides all weekend on buses which will move people between key points in Cardiff. You don't want to be shelling out on taxis all weekend, let alone finding one to hail.
And a wristband will also give you discounts and goodies in loads of retailers, cafes and places across Cardiff on the weekend of Swn. Full details will be in the programme which hits the streets on Nov 1st, on the Swn information sheets which will be available from every participating venue, and in the shops, cafes and restaurants themselves. Look out in shop windows in Cardiff everywhere...
Allocations of wristbands are now on sale for Swn exclusively from www.sebon.co.uk and Chapter Arts Centre Box Office. Tickets will also shortly be available to buy from www.thepointcardiffbay.com and Spillers Records.
A wristband costs just £34! You’ll actually get a ticket to begin with, which you can then exchange for a wristband either when you arrive in Cardiff for the festival or in selected places from 1st Nov. We'll announce where shortly.
This is the first year of Swn. It's massively exciting to have so many great bands coming to play. We'll be putting up links to all of the artistes music, full schedules of who is playing where, details of art exhibitions, films, two cool markets and special talks we're arranging all up at www.swnfest.com.
