5 minutes with...ELECTROVAMP
Electrovamp are sisters Kally(18) and Tammy(19). Previously known as Kute, the girls were signed by legendary major label Island at the end of 2007. Their first single "I Dont Like The Vibe In The V.I.P“ was released last year and their latest song: "Drinks Taste Better When They're Free” is the lead track from the upcoming blockbuster film “How To Lose Friends And Alienate People” starring Simon Pegg and Kirstin Dunst. An album is due for release next year.
We met up with the girls and their manager (also their father) Ken at Cardiff's Winter Wonderland where they kindly agreed to model our ilovecf t-shirts. The nice people there wouldn't let us go skating and take photographs, so we grabbed a ride on the Admiral Eye instead.
You've had a rollercoaster this past 18 months: what are the stand-out memories for you?
K: Making the videos were so much fun! Especially making V.I.P because we invited all of our friends to be in it! A whole bus load of them came and we basically had one big party which started at 8am and finished at 11pm! Awesome!!
T: The premiere for 'How To Lose Friends And Alienate People' was an experience we will never forget! It all seemed a bit surreal walking down the red carpet and performing at the after party. We had Simon Pegg up dancing to one of our songs! There's a part in the film where he is made to do some sort of 'pig dance'... we got him to do it through the whole song and by the end of it he was rather sweaty and out of breath aha! He's such a nice guy!
What would be the perfect career move for electrovamp? Own TV show? An MTV showcase? A tour with... who?
Collaborating with a big artist is something we would love to do! Timberland would be perfect!
What are the top three rules you live your lives by and what would your motto be?
1. Never give up up your dream!
2. You have to put yourself in the right place at the right time.
3. Treat people as you would like to be treated, everyone from the person cleaning up the rubbish after a gig to the people performing..we are all equal.
Motto: Everything happens for a reason! ... A good one that is!! :D
You've been called 'sexy' and 'risqué': what's your response to that?
T: Haha why thank you!
K: Everyone's entitled to their own opinion haha... but thank you :P
Where do you get your inspiration from for your lyrics?
It could be anything from real situations that have happened to us or our friends, or something off the TV or out of a magazine! It could be anything.
Your style's a little bit Blondie circa 1980, a little bit burlesque and a lot of your own sassy ideas. How would you describe your image?
T: Bright! Fitted!
K: We like to show our personalities through what we wear... fun, cheekaaaay aha... oh and HIGH heels are a must have!
Now you've had some success, how come you haven't decamped to a huge Surrey McMansion?
As much as we have had some good success so far, we are yet to earn a big pay cheque! In the music industry at the moment, money doesn't start coming in till later, we are in this for the long run... so hopefully one day we will earn enough to live in a mansion! :D!
If you weren't in the music industry what career do you think would suit you?
T: It would definitely be something within performing arts - there is nothing else that we would want to do.
K: Possibly a TV presenter, or something to do with dancing.
You got to meet Simon Pegg recently, tell us how that went.
Simon Pegg...What a guy!!! :D
He lived up to all expectations, he is such a down to earth guy and we all got on really well. He even has our video on his computer haha.
What's coming up for you in '09?
We're in the studio at the moment working on new tracks so keep a look out!
We plan to travel to Italy, Russia and many other countries as we have had a lot of support from them and even got nominated for 'Best New Artist' for Italy MTV TRL awards!
We are also exploring different sponsors and looking at putting our own range of merchandise out there.
What are your Christmas plans? What's on your list to Santa?
T: My plans are to spend Christmas with my friends and family and also party a lot! I would like a sun and beach holiday off santa but realistically that aint going to happen... so id say pink ghd straighteners!
K: Well im also spending Christmas with my family and friends! Looking forward to my christmas dinner haha! I also have my new year planned...on boxing day im going skiing with some friends for a week so i am very excited!!! Dear Santa, I would like a new phone. Mine is conking out after i dropped it down the toilet! Don't ask! haha :P

K: I went to TigerTiger and the food was lovely :P
T: I love TGI Fridays the Jack Daniels bbq sauce is amazing on ribs, chicken or steak. Yum.

Our favourite bar would be O'Neils
What is your favourite club?
K: I love Oceana
T: I love going to Jumpin Jaks haha
Where would you take someone on their first visit here, to show them
Cardiff at its best?
We would take someone to the bay as its lovely and very pretty especially in the summer!
